Take a stroll down to Seathwaite Tarn and wander round the reservoir or try your hand at wild swimming. For keen hikers, the Coniston mountain range is just beyond, with its famous Old Man of Conniston peak. Seathwaite village has a welcoming pub, perfect for treating the family to a hearty meal after hiking up nearby Caw Fell or Harter Fell. 5 miles away is Ulpha, a quiet village with a convenient village shop and post office. River Duddon runs through it, providing a lovely setting for a picnic on a sunny afternoon. You can also enjoy the scenery of the Lake District from the Eskdale Railway which heads to Ravenglass by the coast. As one of the oldest farmhouses in Duddon Valley, it retains some beautiful original features including exposed beams and low doorways. Enter through the flagstone hallway, laid with slate from nearby Walna Scar, and take off your shoes. To the right is the cosy lounge, where you can settle down for the evening on the stylish sofas and keep warm by the open fire. The first basket of logs is provided, and then you can get further wood for a small fee per basket. Watch a film on the TV or enjoy a digital detox and play card games. Prepare delicious meals in the traditional farmhouse kitchen, complete with an electric oven, dishwasher, a dining table, and a wood burner to keep you cosy. Adjacent is a utility room that houses the microwave, fridge/freezer, and washing machine. There is also a cold room which used to be the old dairy. Upstairs you ll find three beautifully furnished bedrooms, including two king size bedrooms with chests of drawers and hanging space, and a twin bedroom which also has ample storage. To complete the property, there is a generous family bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. To the front of the cottage is an open patio area with seating so you can enjoy the fantastic panoramic views. The side of the property has a lovely orchard, while to the rear there is a small garden with more seating. The next door barn is great for locking away bikes, and it also houses a tumble drier and the logs which you can access on an honesty payment basis. Private parking for two cars can be found at the cottage. The cottage is reached via a farm track which is suitable for most cars. Vehicles with a very low suspension may struggle, so can be parked at the neighbouring farm for the stay.
