Ty Gorof is a delightful 4-bedroomed family house in the remote, quiet and attractive village of Rhandirmwyn. Sensitively restored with whitewashed walls and pale blue door, this detached cottage combines stylish modern convenience with original features dating back 175 or more years. Sleeping 7, this is a perfect family holiday destination. The surrounding area offers wonderful scenery along the Upper Towy valley and the stunning Llyn Brianne reservoir. The Elan Valley is within an easy drive with absolutely stunning scenery. The West Wales coast is a very easy and picturesque drive over the hills and is less than 35 miles. A perfect cottage to be able to walk straight from the door up onto the hills or wander down the lane in the evening to the Royal Oak, awarded CAMRA Carmarthenshire Pub of the year, for a meal or a drink with the friendly locals. This is an excellent place to drive to visit The Gold Mines at Dolaucothi where the gold for Meghan Markels' ring was made.
Stylish Country Cottage
Once through the front door, you will find yourself in a spacious house, where the owners have struck a balance between the need for home comforts and stylish rustic simplicity. Old beams contrast with white walls and woodwork painted in subtle contemporary colours, whilst the new oak floors and traditional Welsh furniture are softened by warm colourful rugs and a comfortable sofa and chairs. An oak refectory table seats 8 people with room to spare. There is a delightful and peaceful "snug" off the sitting room with some comfy chairs and gorgeous views across the valley; perfect for a quiet retreat to just sit quietly and read or listen to music.
The bedrooms:
Bedroom 1: Double bedroom with a toilet and handbasin,
Bedroom 2: Twin bedroom
Bedroom 3: Twin bedroom
Bedroom 4: Single bedroom.
There are pretty coloured throws on the beds and oriental rugs on the wooden floors.
The very well equipped kitchen with electric cooker, double oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer has French doors which open out onto a flagstoned terrace with the garden beyond and a wonderful view of the valley. For cosier winter nights, the sitting room has a woodburning stove.
For extra convenience, there is a downstairs shower room with an excellent shower with handbasin and toilet. Leading off this is a utility room for the laundry and a back door to the garden.
Upstairs there is a spacious bathroom with a large bath, handbasin and toilet.

In spring and early summer, the meadows and roadside banks are covered in a bright array of wild flowers. Farming continues to be central to the local community. From the cottage you can stroll two minutes down to the village shop and enjoy the relaxed pace of life, where everyone has time to stop and say hello, bore da. The friendly pub serving good pub food is also nearby. Or if you are a little more energetic, the river is ten minutes walk away.
There are great opportunities for walking either from the cottage or within a short drive. Mountain biking, horse riding and fishing are also available and this remote valley is known for its RSPB bird reserve (Red Kite now thriving over much of England and Wales still continued to breed here when extinct elsewhere in the British Isles). The Brecon Beacons National Park begins just south of Llandovery.
