Our large and beautifully-appointed detached home sits in the picturesque village of Paythorne - nestled in the peaceful Ribble Valley between the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland - with stunning views across the fields from the house to Pendle Hill. As a family home for many years, the house is cosy and welcoming, with stylish, open plan living spaces including original features, a spacious rear garden and annex, and large kitchen-dining area making it ideal for bringing the extended family or groups of friends together. The Hawthorns is ideally located for groups seeking to explore the great outdoors, with a wide range of activities to choose from. There are short walks from the house around Paythorne Moor and Gisburn Park Estate, where wildlife lovers will enjoy looking out for the resident deer․ Or venture slightly further to explore the local beauty spots of Malham Cove, Stainforth Falls, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, home to the famous Three Peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough․ And with the endless possibilities of the Lake District National Park less than an hour drive away, the house is a perfect base for walking holidays and to explore some of the best landscapes the country has to offer! For those seeking more high-adrenaline adventure, visit the mountain bike trails at Gisburn Forest, or take a more leisurely pootle through quiet lanes to explore the surrounding area on your road bike (which you can store in the secure bike shed at the house). Skipton, Settle, and Clitheroe are all a short drive from the house where you will find exciting and fun activities for all the family - including the 12th-century Clitheroe Castle Museum, the trails of Skipton Woods and Barden Moor, and the Settle-Carlisle Railway, where unforgettable rides can be enjoyed through the rural scenery. Food and drink lovers will appreciate the plethora of pubs and eateries in the area․ In Paythorne itself you will find The Buck pub, serving hearty home-cooked meals and local cask ale․ In the neighbouring village of Gisburn you will find the renowned La Locanda Italian Restaurant, as well as a deli and a shop․ And Downham, on the outskirts of Clitheroe, is home to the famed Assheton Arms pub. Arriving at the house you will find off-road parking for four cars on the gravel driveway behind an electric gate. The bright and welcoming entrance room features a large boot store and coat racks, stairs up to the first floor, and doors into the open-plan living space on either side. The spacious kitchen is well-equipped with a Smeg fridge/freezer, range cooker, double basin and ample storage. There are two dining areas - an extendable table in the kitchen, big enough to sit your entire party, looks out over the garden, whilst a smaller seating area next to the snug is perfect for a quieter meal or to sit and play one of the many board games available at the house. The snug is a small second living room with a music system, a collection of vinyl records and a TV, making it a perfect little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the main living room. The main living room features a wood burning stove, a 65” Smart TV, and a huge comfortable sofa, offering plenty of room for everyone to cosy up together at the end of a busy day. Next door is a magical garden room with a living-wall of tropical plants, twinkling fairy lights, and a wood burning stove, making it a wonderful calming spot to retreat to. Stepping out of the main house into the garden, guests will be blown away by the stunning views across the fields to Pendle Hill and can choose to take in the scenery from the seating area on the veranda, or from the warmth of the large fire pit․ For our younger and more energetic guests, the large lawned paddock offers ample space for running around or playing football using the goal posts, and a games room in the stable block offering table tennis, darts and other games will keep even the most active entertained! Also accessible from the garden is the annex which consists of a double bedroom with en-suite shower room, lounge area with wood burning stove and sofa bed, and a small kitchenette․ Floor-to-ceiling glass doors open directly out onto the garden. Back in the main house and up to the first floor guests will find two king-sized bedrooms (one of which being en-suite), a double with en-suite, and a twin room․ All bedrooms have been carefully decorated and are seasonally-themed - from the mediterranean colours of Summer to the warming hues of Autumn. Also upstairs is a family bathroom with a deep, copper, freestanding bath, ideal for unwinding and soothing muscles after a day’s activities. The entire house is stylishly decorated and adorned with contemporary artwork, including originals and limited edition prints by local artists.
