Whitefriars Lodge has a rich history, dating back to the 1500s when it served as a resting place for horse-drawn carriages. In the 1800s, it was rebuilt as White Hall, with stables and a coach house, and later served by four servants.

The property's garden once covered the neighboring Whitefriars Car Park, and a historic greenhouse in the adjacent garden supplied produce for the estate.
