The Artist's House, Chipping Norton

Oxfordshire. Sleeps up to 8

Overview:

The Artist’s House is a newly restored ironstone cottage with a single storey extension three minutes drive from Soho Farmhouse. Renovated with eco credentials by Pam and John it is a blend of contemporary and traditional, full of works created by themselves and their contempories. Underfloor heated with a log burner in the snug it is perfect for up to 8. It can be booked in conjunction with their other let Field End that sleeps 4, thus sleeping 12 if needed. Both are completely separate buildings with private entrances and parking.

Ground Floor - Spacious living room with a sofa, chaise long and comfortable chairs with access to a projector. The living room leads into the kitchen and dining area and can be separated through our handcrafted glass door. The dining table seats up to 8 people.

There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor. The 3rd Bedroom has an en-suite with a shower and borders the living room, separated by a partition wall. It contains a King sized bed that can be separated to two singles if needed. The 4th Bedroom, named the snug contains two single Murphy style beds which can be moved up and down to create a bedroom/snug area.

There is also a small utilities area situated in the porch with a washing machine, freezer and space to put shoes/hang coats.

First Floor - Upstairs there are 2 more bedrooms and 2 more bathrooms. Bedroom 1 has an en-suite with a shower and contains another King sized bed which again can be separated into two singles if needs be. Bedroom 2 similarly contains a King sized bed that can be made into two singles. There is a bathroom bordering Bedroom 2 which contains a bath.

Outside - We have an outside covered area with deck chairs, a BBQ and a table that seats 8+ guests. The seating area overlooks Pam’s beautiful garden, full of fruit and flowers. There is plenty of parking space on the property, however please let us know if there is more than 4 cars arriving.

The Site:

The site as a whole is called Potato Town, it was a cluster of buildings housing John and Pams workshop and Studio. They had annual exhibitions and pop up events here before purchasing the site from The Great Tew Estate three years ago. There are now three properties on the site all with different outlooks that are completely separate from each other. Surrounded and interconnected with a mature garden and picking flower garden wildlife is often seen from the decks and outside eating areas or on the walk from the door down the lane. Hares, deer owls and the "tenement" of house martins that have returned every year from Africa make this a unique and special place.

Things to Note:

Pam and John live in one of the other properties on site so help is at hand if required and after having travelled extensively in their youth enjoy hosting other peoples memorable journeys and breaks. Without being too earnest about it we are trying to reduce our waste and adopt eco friendly practices. We air dry our french linen bedding and are moving over to as much organic cotton as possible. We provide toiletries from Faith In Nature in refillable dispensers and do not use chemicals on the garden. As mentioned above, 3 out of the 4 bedrooms contain beds that can be separated into single beds if needs be, please let us know how you would like the beds for your arrival.
