Summary:
This beautiful country cottage is nestled amongst a peaceful wooded valley in the heart of the Quantock Hills. All is idyllic; a gentle stream trickles through the bottom of the garden and you can enjoy endless views of nature from almost every angle of the cottage. Step out the door and onto the start of a walking trail, there are so many to explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Then it’s back home for a summer barbecue at sunset or a cosy wintry night in front of the fire.
The Space:
As cottages go, this one is rather lovely. Old stone bricks are complimented by pink paintwork, whilst eggshell windows give a charming appeal. Inside, it continues. You're welcomed by homely interiors from the moment you walk in, and there's tons of space for 7 guests to kick back and enjoy. Rustle up delicious dinners in the expansive modern kitchen, which comes equipped with everything you could need and more. While next door’s dining room is the perfect place for long, sociable meals or energetic board game nights for all. Settle back into the comfortable sofas in the living room as a fire roars in the background. On sunny days, sprawl out into the well-sized garden - kids can run free-range and play with the swing set whilst adults enjoy the peace and quiet.
Upstairs, find four homely bedrooms each with its own distinct feel. The master boasts a double bed alongside a modern en-suite bathroom. There is a further double bedroom, a large single bedroom and a children’s room with a playful child-sized bunk bed to boot. They share a wet room, which can be found on the ground floor. The cottage is approached through electronic gates, with a large parking area for up to five vehicles.

There is a plethora of walks you can enjoy in the Quantock Hills, as well as cycling and horse riding trails. With views over the Bristol Channel, Wales, the Mendips and Blackdown Hills it is a truly special region. Beacon Hill and Bicknoller Hill are both brilliant walking spots in the north-west corner of the Quantocks, above the village of West Quantoxhead. Look out for Trendle Ring, an Iron Age hill-fort on Bicknoller Hill. Both hills are also great places to hear the nightjar, a nocturnal bird, on a balmy summer evening. Woodlands Hill and Shervage Wood, adjacent to the A39 on the west of the hills, are full of myth and mystery.
The cottage is also located within 15 minutes of the coast, so you can enjoy blustery walks along the water's edge or spend afternoon rock pooling. Kilve Beach, Doniford Beach and Lilstock Beach are all within the closest distance, but please be aware they are pebbled. Bridgewater Bay Nature Reserve and WWT Steart Marshes are gorgeous spots to enjoy wildlife. The wetland landscape is home to a huge array of wildlife including otters, egrets, owls, waders and wildfowl.
For dining, the cottage is located close to the stunning Combe House Hotel and restaurant, which offers fantastic food in picturesque surroundings. Lots of the produce is grown on site or sourced from the local area. For pubs, The Plough Inn is just a short nine minute walk down the lane or The Castle of Comfort Hotel and restaurant is a five minute drive.
The historic market town, Bridgewater, is reachable in 25 minutes by car and here you will find a selection of independent shops as well as pubs, cafes and galleries. There are also a couple of large supermarkets in the area.
