Location map of 'Downhill' Blue Flag certified beach

Downhill beach, located within the Binevenagh AONB, is a beautiful stretch of golden sand, with the iconic Mussenden Temple perched on the edge of the high cliffs at its eastern end. The beach merges with Benone Strand to form one of the longest continuous stretches of sand in the Province at almost 7 miles. An extensive dune system flanks the beach and gives way to the impressive basaltic cliffs of Binevenagh headland. The beach affords uninterrupted views of Donegal's Inishown Penninsula and is a popular location for surfing, body boarding, walking and horse riding.Directions: Downhill beach is accessed from Mussenden Road (A2), via an archway under the railway line. Cars are permitted to drive onto the beach. Bus services available from Coleraine to Limavady. For details of all Blue Flag beaches and marinas in Northern Ireland please go to www.keepnorthernirelandbeautiful.org
