Visit Llangollen in north Wales, with its horse drawn canal barges, steam railway, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which you can canoe over, and white water activities such as rafting, tubing and gorge walking, or slightly further afield is Snowdonia. Shropshire, one of England’s most attractive counties, has plenty of places to visit, including Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.
