Guests can relax in the orchard, taking in the stunning uninterrupted views, or enjoy a spot of birdwatching. Minimal light pollution in the area allows wonderful viewing of the night sky and you will be able to stargaze over a glass of wine in the evening!
The village has an old square and a very pretty village green with a World War II memorial. Its slightly larger neighbour, Youlgreave, is a lovely village offering a pub and stores, and was once the centre of Derbyshire’s lead mining industry. Nearby you will find Bakewell, a wonderful market town, extremely popular with visitors and offering shops, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as a frequent farmers’ market and weekly local market. The area is well situated within the Peak District National Park and is ideally placed for both walkers and cyclists to explore the traffic-free Tissington and Monsal Trails nearby. A short drive away is Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, along with many stately homes to explore, including Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. Both these stately homes are within walking distance of Lowfields Farm, if you fancy a longer walk! This really is the most wonderful place for a family get-together, with a real feeling of country living for guests at any time of the year. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
