Couples and family bookings only, sorry no hen or stag parties.. Located on the banks of the River Dane in the tiny hamlet of Gradbach, this superb farmhouse complete with a private hot tub, can be found in an unspoilt corner of the Peak District National Park, close to the borders of Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire. It is within the secluded grounds of an 18th century stone built silk mill. Both the former mill and farmhouse are steeped in history, with a quote dating back to the 1700’s describing the two ancient buildings as ‘being in one of the most delightful and romantic settings in the valley’. Surrounded by 16 acres the setting is indeed spectacular and the accommodation pays justice to this. With all bedrooms en-suite, a stylish farmhouse kitchen with wood burner and range cooker and a beautiful oak beamed lounge the result is warm, comfortable and spacious. To make your stay as relaxing as possible packed lunches, pre-prepared dinner options (ready to cook), breakfast baskets and pizza and drink packages are available. Please book in advance with the owner with at least 7 days’ notice.
The Gritstone Roaches, one of the UK’s premier climbing destinations and the wonderful hidden gem of Lud Church with its fantastic myth and legend, are also just a stones’ throw away. The spa town of Buxton with its magnificent architecture, shops, swimming pool and Opera House is just 20 minutes away, and the other Peak District towns and villages such as Bakewell, Tideswell and Hartington can all be reached within around half an hour. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton are around 40 minutes away, and the National Trusts Quarry Bank Mill, Little Morton Hall, Tatton Park and Biddulph Grange are all nearby. Finally for those thrillseekers Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham can be reached in around 45 minutes and Alton Towers in around half an hour.
