The estate is located just outside the village of Lifton with its award-winning farm shop and restaurant which is open every day. With freshly made bread, pasties, pies, butchery, freshly picked vegetables and a deli counter full of local cheeses it really is a perfect place to find local fresh ingredients and truly homemade meals. They will even arrange for meals to be delivered to your door! The owners of Wooladon House live close by within the village of Lifton. Nearby Launceston has a wider range of shops and amenities and is also home to an ancient ruined castle.
Wooladon is an ideal base for visiting both the coastal resorts and the moorland areas. The north Cornish coast with its dramatic Atlantic rollers and big wide sandy beaches is perfect for surfers, or coasteering and kayaking for the more adventurous! The south coast is more sheltered with sandy beaches, sailing and pretty seaside towns to wander around. If you prefer to stay inland, Dartmoor is less than half an hours drive with miles and miles of rugged moorland to wander, tors to climb, pretty little villages to visit or, follow the streams and Drakes Leat which leads to Plymouth.
The local market towns of Launceston, Tavistock and Okehampton are all within 15 miles. The world-famous Eden Project is less than an hours drive. Also within easy reach are Port Isaac (Doc Martin filmed here), Fowey (home of Daphne du Maurier), The Rosamunde Pilcher trail, Tintagel with its Arthurian Legends, Jamaica Inn on Bodmin Moor and so much more. Also, easy to reach are the cathedral city of Exeter, and the historic port of Plymouth with its famous Hoe and Barbican area with the Mayflower Steps.
Close by is Roadford Lake with walking, sailing and fishing. Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre with its working fairground rides makes a good day out. Local National Trust properties include Cothele, Lanhydrock and Lydford Gorge. Shop, pub and restaurants 1 mile.
