Pamflete House, Plymouth

Devon. Sleeps up to 18

This impressive property is perfect for that special occasion, with plenty of space for the whole family and a private path to a beach. Pamflete House is an attractive, detached Georgian farmhouse near the mouth of the Erme Estuary, which was enlarged to accommodate John Crocker Bulteel’s large family and staff when he left Flete in 1870. It now provides a luxurious, well-equipped private house, which is available fully or partially staffed for family holidays and celebrations, as well as larger events such as weddings. The entrance sweep of Pamflete House is ideally suited for a marquee reception for up to 120 guests, with a glorious view up the valley. The house is a 2-minute drive from Pamflete Beach, which is the most idyllic setting for wedding photographs with a difference. Wedding packages can be enquired about at the estate office on site. This spacious country residence is a Grade II listed house situated in a heritage location, perfect for all types of celebrations, from christenings, birthdays, anniversaries and reunions, to country house parties and relaxed family holidays. |The Flete Estate is a privately owned estate of over 5000 acres of farmland, woodlands, pastures, amenity and agricultural land leading to the Erme Estuary coastline and wide sandy beaches. Set in the beautiful coastal South Hams area of Devon, this unspoilt stretch of coastline, with its beaches, streams and rock pools, is one of the few to remain in private ownership. Guests can make use of a small, private path that drops down from the old carriage drive through the woods to Pamflete Beach, one of the Estate’s more secluded beaches. This sheltered stretch of sand makes the perfect summer barbecue spot, as well as being a favourite site for crabbing. |Mothecombe’s sandy beach is at the mouth of the Erme Estuary. It is owned and maintained by the Flete Estate and has remained completely unspoilt, with the only buildings being an old boathouse and the lime kiln. With its soft golden sand, a little stream, rock pools and small secluded coves revealed at low tide, the beach slopes gently into the sea. The coastal paths leading from Mothecombe Beach have far reaching views over beaches and cliffs, including a tidal bathing pool, smugglers cave and secluded beaches. |The surrounding location is both idyllic and famous. The first film shot on location on the Flete Estate was ‘International Velvet’ in 1978, starring Tatum O’Neal, Christopher Plummer, Anthony Hopkins and Nanette Newman, and featured Mothecombe Beach and the nearby village of Holbeton. The Flete Estate will probably be remembered most in Ang Lee’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’, filmed in 1995 with an all-star cast, including Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. The television adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier’s ‘Rebecca’ was filmed in 1997. The Estate has been the backdrop of many other films and television series, including ‘Hornblower’ in 1997, episodes of ‘Poirot’ and ‘Jonathan Creek’ to name but a few. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile. |Ground Floor:|Living room: |With satellite TV (sports package) and DVD player.|Drawing room.|Dining room.|Kitchen: |With double electric range, oil Aga, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.|Utility room: |With washing machine and tumble dryer.|Drying room: |With washing machine and tumble dryer.|Games room: |With pool table, table tennis, satellite TV (sports package) and DVD player.|Shower| |room: |With walk-in shower (no toilet).|Two separate toilets.|First Floor:|Bedroom 1: |With super kingsize bed and en-suite with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.|Bedroom 2: |With super kingsize bed and en-suite with bath, shower cubicle and toilet.|Bedroom 3: |With zip and link super kingsize bed (can be twin beds on request).|Bedroom 4: |With twin beds.|Bedroom 5: |With twin beds.|Bedroom 6: |With twin beds.|Bathroom 1: |With shower over bath (no toilet).|Bathroom 2: |With shower over bath, and toilet.|Bathroom 3: |With claw foot bath, shower cubicle and toilet.|Shower room: |With shower cubicle and toilet.|Separate toilet.|East Wing.|All on first floor:|Living/dining room:| With open fire, Freeview TV and DVD player.|Kitchen: |With electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer.|Bedroom 7: |With super kingsize bed.|Bedroom 8: |With twin beds.|Bedroom 9: |With twin beds.|Bathroom 4: |With shower over bath (no toilet).|Separate toilet.| Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included.
