With exposed timbers, stone and brickwork, this detached house welcomes you the minute you walk through the door. The spacious kitchen with flagstone floor, vaulted ceiling and large central island is open plan with the living area, and is a great sociable space for friends or families to gather. The large separate dining room also has a TV and French doors leading directly to the terrace and the hot tub. There are three bedrooms on the ground floor; the master room being en-suite, and a further bedroom on the first floor accessed via an open staircase in the dining room. The grounds are spacious with extensive parking and a lawned area to enjoy.
Trefechan is ideally situated on the A44 at the edge of the little Montgomeryshire village of Llangurig, which boasts not one, but two pubs, a village store, post office, craft shop and a fine 15th-century church. The village lies on the River Wye, and a National Cycle Route (Sustrans) and the Wye Valley Walk are accessed from here.
Charming Rhayader, claimed to be the oldest town in Mid Wales, is less than 9 miles away and is the gateway to the breathtaking Elan Valley and dams. There is a 9-mile traffic free path with stunning scenery, and a fascinating visitor centre, café and a variety of events on all year round. The surrounding area has long been famed for rare and beautiful wildlife, and the International Dark Sky Park status of the Elan Valley makes it an ideal place to view the moon, planets and stars. Sometimes you can get a superb view of the International Space Station!
There is so much to see and do here, all within really easy reach. Visit Devil’s Bridge Falls, and travel on the Rheidol steam railway into the seaside town of Aberystwyth. Visit the Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre or Nant Yr Arian (includes Red Kite feeding, walking and cycling trails, and mountain biking). Walk to Plynlimon, the highest point of the Cambrian Mountains. Shop for Welsh Royal Crystal, or try your hand at the many sporting activities in the area, including golf, sailing, trout fishing, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting or adrenalin packed adventures such as off-roading.
