The world famous Bodnant Garden, owned by the National Trust, is central to the Estate and is open 361 days a year. The garden is famed for its laburnum arch, Italianate terraces, waterfalls and National Collections of plants. With 80 acres now open to the public, this is a ’must see’ whilst staying at Bryn Derw. The Bodnant Estate is also home to the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre, where you can pop in and stock up on the essentials, or treat yourself to a tasty snack in the café. You can also browse in the Bodnant Plant Centre, and there is a wide choice of individual craft businesses selling a fantastic selection of hand made crafts too.The cottage itself has been delightfully restored to a very high standard and is decorated in a traditional style, complete with a beamed fireplace and French doors leading out to the garden. It is the perfect secluded and tranquil spot, nestled in woodland and overlooking a field.
Conveniently situated for Conwy, this historic town is well worth a visit, with its Edward I castle and town walls (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Aberconwy House (National Trust), Plas Mawr (Cadw) and delightful quay, from where you can take a boat trip on the Conwy Estuary. Nearby Llandudno offers a full range of shopping, the Venue Cymru theatre, where you can perhaps catch a visiting West End show, and the famous Great Orme with its street tramway, cable car and Bronze Age Copper Mine. You can also visit the market town of Llanrwst and pretty Betws-y-Coed, which is the Gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, or enjoy walks in the Gwydyr Forest, home to the amazing Zip World Fforest Coaster and treetop nets – a fun way of experiencing the forest!
