Conveniently located a short walk from the beach and a couple of minutes’ walk to the local shops and eateries, this tastefully presented semi-detached bungalow makes an ideal base for exploring this popular seaside destination! Anchor Cottage has been stylishly and comfortably furnished throughout using relaxing neutral colours, with a nautical theme in keeping with Hayling Islands’ sailing and surfing heritage. The living room, well equipped kitchen and conservatory/dining room are really light and airy, and French doors lead out to a fantastic decked area which is a real sun trap. Enjoy al fresco dining and an aperitif or two on the comfy rattan furniture, plus there is a large chiminea/barbecue area. Behind the sun deck, is a further enclosed lawned garden area and there is parking for three cars. There are two bedrooms, with the master having a large walk-in dressing area, and the second bedroom has a kingsize bed which can be split into twin beds (on request). The modern bathroom has a roll-top bath and a separate shower cubicle, while outside there is a laundry room.
Hayling Island is a traditional seaside resort with amusements for all ages. It is well known for its sailing activities, and is sheltered by the Isle of Wight, making it ideal for water sports. It is renowned for its windsurfing and sailing, kayaking, power boating, jet skiing, kitesurfing and wake boarding. Local paddle-boating and windsurfing lessons are available close by. Every year there is a national windsurfing event, and a hive of sailing and nautical activity can be seen along the coastline. The Hayling Billy Trail, which starts at the former railway line, is a pleasant amble overlooking Langstone Harbour. There is so much to be enjoyed locally for all ages, including pitch and putt, seaside railway, and a small amusement park for the children. For the sports enthusiast, Seacourt is also worth a visit, with five racket sports including real tennis.
Nearby can be found two golf courses, riding, boat trips and scenic walks along the waters’ edge or in the South Downs National Park which is within easy reach. Chichester with its beautiful cathedral, festival theatre, shopping, leisure centre, Roman villa, and Goodwood and Fontwell races courses are definitely worth a visit. Visit Portsmouth with waterside dining, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, designer outlets, Natural History Museum, leisure facilities, Spinnaker Tower and HMS Victory, explore the maritime history at Southampton. Winchester with its cathedral, abbey and the New Forest National Park are within easy driving distance. There are plenty of National Trust properties and gardens all waiting to be discovered nearby. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 350 yards.
