From the kitchen/dining areas, patio doors open on to the enclosed lawned garden. Families with young children are welcomed and well catered for, with lots of toys and games, and additional personal touches such as highchairs, stairgates and cots. When the two properties are rented together, there is access between the gardens with gates opening onto the patio areas, allowing ease of access between them. The properties are within walking distance of local amenities, and are within a 10-minute walk of the local railway station with services to Bournemouth, Southampton and London Waterloo. During the summer, there is an annual spectacle and celebration of forest life called the New Forest Show.

The local area is home to ponies, donkeys and cattle – all of which are known to roam the main street in Brockenhurst. There is a pretty picnic and shallow water swimming spot on the river at Balmer Lawn. For those keen on walking and cycling (there is a cycle hire shop locally which has a large range of bikes, electric bikes, tandems and children’s seats), these holiday homes are ideally situated, being surrounded by ancient woods and heathland. There are cafés, tea houses, friendly pubs and restaurants serving great food as well as Italian, Thai and Chinese restaurants within easy walking distance, and a good fish and chip shop nearby too. Locally there is a hotel with luxury spa, horse riding and golf just a short drive away. You can even explore the New Forest on a double decker bus for a bird’s-eye view of this national park.

Discover some of the quaint villages, towns, attractions and gardens nearby such as Lyndhurst, the sailing town of Lymington which is just a 20-minute drive and offers ferry trips to the Isle of Wight, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Exbury Gardens and the riverside village of Bucklers Hard. The county of Hampshire itself was enjoyed by Jane Austen, with her house and museum in Chawton and her resting place in Winchester Cathedral. Further afield, but well worth a visit, is Monkey World and the Tank Museum near Wool, Marwell Zoo, Peppa Pig World, Stonehenge, The Owl and Otter Park and nautical maritime museum at Southampton. The coastline with its beaches at Milford on Sea and Barton on Sea are close by, with Bournemouth and Poole within a short drive to enjoy popular activities such as windsurfing, boating and swimming. Explore the unspoilt countryside of Dorset or the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, from West Bay, Bridport and on to Weymouth, with its superb scenery and coastal walking. Beach 8 miles. Shop 20 yards, pub and restaurants 50 yards.
