The White House, Bembridge

Five minutes walk from the beach, the White House is an architectural gem. Lutyens had a hand in its design. It was built for the current owner's grandfather as a summer villa at the height of Edwardian exuberance. It is still used as a holiday house and people remark on its happy atmosphere. It was designed for fun. There is a walled garden and private parking right in the heart of the pretty village of Bembridge. The house has recently been refurbished to a high standard. The six upstairs bedrooms are all en suite and the two downstairs bedrooms share a large shower room and separate cloakroom. All the rooms have luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and towelling bathrobes. Enter the hallway with the pantry on your right. Continue to the loggia, the prettiest room for dining with seating for 9, looking out towards the garden with garden access. Ahead is the large, comfortable drawing room, and to the left, past the NE staircase, is the kitchen with a hidden TV. It can seat 18. Along the back passage of the house is the back door, the laundry room (two washing machines and two tumble driers, also there is a larder fridge in addition to the kitchen fridge/freezer), a shower room and a further cloak room, to the Green Room (study, with TV), and turning right along the corridor, Vendée Globe King size bedroom, past the NW staircase, the Garden Room is on the left, Super king size large bedroom with pretty garden views and easy access to the garden through a door into the open loggia. Turning right towards the drawing room with its open fireplace, plenty of seating and pretty windows looking out to the garden. Through the NE door of the master bedroom, America's Cup, a stunning huge bedroom, more like an apartment, with two huge sofas and views over the garden, en suite bathroom with double basins, walk in shower and large Edwardian bath. Leaving America's Cup through its NW door, through to the twin bedded Fastnet, with en suite shower, and Admiral's Cup, a big room with a sofa, a Super king bed and an en suite shower. There is a second basin in the room and a bath, romantically raised on a dais. The room has views over the garden. Back downstairs via the NW staircase to the ground floor with Green Room, Vendée Globe and The Garden Room. The pantry, by the front door, with a large sink, wine racks, wine cooler and ice machine also has storage for coats and boots, This fabulous house has a large open fire place, a WOW kitchen with a hidden TV, a walled garden and luxurious beds.
