Originally a Blacksmiths forge which served the horses at the manor house and the surrounding area, there are still 16 award winning stables on site, although there are no longer horses there. The manor house and the forge were originally part of the Holkham Estate, owned by the Earls of Leicester and were both built in the 17th-century. Converted with love and care by the owners to maintain the character but providing everything needed for a perfect stay, this is a great base for discerning guests wishing to relax and unwind and those wishing to explore on foot, cycle or by car alike. In fact, as well as good road links, the properties boasts wonderful walks and cycle routes right from the front door. Oozing charm, this stunning and beautiful holiday cottage will provide the warmest welcome and guests are sure to return.
Lying just 15 miles from the magnificent North Norfolk coastline, this property is ideal for exploring the sandy beaches, RSPB nature reserves, coastal paths and pretty villages, many of them having gastro pubs. There are plenty of attractions nearby for all ages, including Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens, 6 miles, the picturesque Georgian town of Holt, 12 miles and the bustling market town of Fakenham, 8½ miles. Visit the medieval city of Norwich, 17 miles, which is a great day out with excellent shopping, castle museum, art galleries, theatre, cathedral, fine restaurants, pubs and cafés. The Royal Sandringham Estate is only 26 miles away and other places of interest are Langham Glass in Fakenham, and the National Trust properties of Sheringham Gardens, Felbrigg Hall and Holkham Hall. Guest will find excellent sailing and water sport activities available along the coast. Perfect for outdoor enthusiast, there is excellent walking and cycling opportunities available from the doorstep, along quiet country lanes, designated paths and trails. Fishing available locally (licence required). Beach 16 miles. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 800 yards.
