This imposing period house has been stylishly furnished with great attention to detail with your every comfort catered for. Relaxation is the order of the day with two living areas and even a library/study where you can put your feet up and delve into that book you’ve not had time to pick up lately or write your postcards to send home. Head up one of two separate staircases to the first floor where six bedrooms await after a busy day exploring. The single bedroom is a perfect hideaway that your child will love. There’s also a ’kid’s cave’ in the basement where children can hang out and spend hours getting creative with the arts and crafts supplies provided.

To the front of the house is a large expanse of lawned garden which stretches all the way down to the road. Less than half a mile away, and just across the A59, is the main estate of Broughton Hall. Guests are free to wander the vast 3000-acre grounds and discover wildlife including peacocks, roaming sheep and bridges across the river. For a more exhilarating experience, the Broughton Hall Estate is home to Land Rover Experience North, so why not try your hand on the off road course (by direct arrangement with the owner)?

If you can tear yourself away long enough to explore the surrounding area, there are many attractions within very easy reach, not to mention endless opportunities to hike into the hills and fells and admire the beauty of the fittingly named ‘God’s Own Country’!

Micklethorn is set back from the A59, giving easy access to a main road for exploring this spectacular area of the country. Just 4 miles away is the bustling market town of Skipton, with its cobbled high street and thrice weekly market days. The Norman castle will delight young and old alike and a stroll through Skipton woods at any time of year is a true way to bring your family together. If the weather is inclement then there’s a leisure centre, bowling alley, independent cinema and many cosy bars and restaurants suiting all tastes and budgets. Bolton Abbey, Grassington and even Ilkley can all be reached within 30 minutes’ drive.

If you head along the A59 in the opposite direction you’ll soon be in Lancashire, often overlooked in favour of its neighbour Yorkshire, but boasting some beautiful spots within the Ribble Valley and Forest of Bowland, all accessible within 30 minutes’ drive. Shops and restaurants 4 miles, pubs serving food 1 mile.
