After a brisk walk along the many pathways and bridleways surrounding the village, head back to Lindisfarne and relax in front of the open fire.
The Grand Union Canal flows through the village, where you can walk along the scenic tow path and spot local wildlife, or take a boat ride through Blisworth Tunnel - one of the longest tunnels in England. There is an annual canal festival held in the village in August where you’ll discover trade boats, stalls, food and drink, a fun day out for all the family. Visit the surrounding villages of Stoke Bruerne with its canal museum, pubs and restaurants. Rookery Open Farm is close by where you can get up close to a variety of animals, take a picnic and learn about farming methods, ideal for a great day out with your little ones.
There are many National Trust properties in the area to visit, including Stowe, Canon’s Ashby, Claydon, Farnborough Hall and Upton House and Gardens. For the shopaholics, take a visit to the CentreMK in Milton Keynes with over 200 shops and restaurants, or for luxury shopping, take a trip to Bicester Village, a wide range of designer outlet stores. For a bit more adrenaline, Silverstone circuit and Towcester racecourse are close by. Milton Keynes is 15 miles away and has something for everyone including a theatre, lakes with watersports and Xscape with an array of activities including a ski slope, indoor skydiving, bowling, cinema, climbing wall, restaurants and many outdoor pursuit themed shops. Shop 100 yards, pub 50 yards and restaurant 1 mile.
