This beautifully renovated property is perfectly situated in the grounds of historic Newstead Abbey Park. Here you will be walking in the footsteps of the classic romantic poet, George Gordon Byron, and enjoying spectacular views over the lake, which was created by Thomas Wildman around 1820. The abbey is steeped in history and was founded as a monastic house in the late 12th century, and to this day, the house retains much of its medieval character along with the array of stunning gardens to explore.
As you traverse the commanding front entrance into the spacious hall of this property, you will feel immediate escape from the outside world. Through glass double doors to your right is the first of two reception rooms, offering something to entertain all ages, with its adjoining snug providing a quiet place to read and reflect. To your left is a generous bedroom with a king size bed and en-suite with a walk in shower. Directly ahead at the heart of the house is a large, welcoming, open-plan kitchen/dining room with a fantastic outlook over the patio and superbly maintained gardens. A magnificent aga and American-style fridge/freezer, spa filter taps and a wine cooler are on hand to enjoy. Adjoining this on one side is a large utility area, whilst on the other, an impressive, formal living room with wrap-round windows. Upstairs are a further two large bedrooms and a fourth bedroom with bunk beds suitable for adults or children. The master bedroom is accessed through a dressing room adjoining a generously sized family bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and shower.
The gardens nestle amongst mature trees and shrubs and also boast a superb summerhouse to relax in whilst enjoying the lake views. Situated within the grounds of Newstead Abbey Park, The Gun Room is only a few minutes’ walk from many of the park’s unique features, including the abbey with café, Byron’s own fort and the plethora of gardens.
Mansfield, Nottingham, Newark and Southwell are all close by and local attractions include Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park, Rufford Abbey Country Park, Wollaton Park, White Post Farm, Robin Hood’s Wheel Gate Park and Papplewick Pumping Station.
