This delightful and unique octagonal property, formerly an 18th-century smallholder’s cottage, nestles in an idyllic and peaceful setting. The property, close to the owner’s home, is situated by a babbling stream and a wonderful waterfall in a wooded combe in the heart of the Quantock Hills. It is surrounded by its own garden and NT land, with endless miles of walks amongst ancient oak and beech trees, and on the heathland with its ponies, sheep and red deer. Reached via an unmade track and over a footbridge, this is a rural location and makes for a perfect holiday hideaway. Superb for mountain biking, bird watching, horse riding, golf and watersports, it really is a little slice of heaven. There is a fantastic selection of British wildlife on the doorstep, with buzzards, badgers, red deer, foxes, rabbits and a pair of friendly dippers who have a nest next to the waterfall. This is an ideal base for hikers and dog walkers, excellent walking can be found on the Quantock Hills and Exmoor. The cottage is a short drive (or a fabulous 2½ mile walk) from the village of Nether Stowey, with its range of shops and pubs. Places of interest include Coleridge Cottage and Dunster Castle (both NT), the Somerset Levels, Glastonbury Tor, Wells Cathedral, Cheddar Gorge and Taunton. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub ½ mile.

Weekly price from £495
