The rural village of Alton lies on the western fringes of the wonderful Peak District National Park, in beautiful moorland countryside between the market towns of Leek and Ashbourne. The village has a local post office, village store and lovely pubs serving fantastic food to enjoy. Walking and cycling is excellent in this area with miles of woodland trails to enjoy. Close by you will find the thrilling Alton Towers theme park for the adrenaline junkies amongst you. Dovedale and the limestone Churnet Valley are also right on the doorstep, and the Manifold Way is also close by. From The Cow Barn you have easy access to many of the area’s attractions, including Chatsworth and Haddon country estates, Lyme Park, as seen in the TV drama ’Pride and Prejudice’ and Ilam Park to explore.
