Wonderful Grade II listed Talbot Lodge (ref UKC3849) and Chetwynd Lodge (UKC3942) can be found within the grounds of Staffordshire’s first conservation area, Ingestre Village. They both occupy one section of the quadrangle which forms the ‘New Stables’, built by the 20th Earl of Shrewsbury in 1886, with the rest being occupied by Ingestre Riding School. The charming working stables environment means you will frequently see magnificent horses and ponies walking around the courtyard and grazing in the surrounding fields. Having been designed with conservation in mind, both lodges have retained many original features of the beautiful Victorian building that has been painstakingly restored over time. Furthermore, the elegant styling of the lodges was created by Oscar-winning designer Luciana Arrighi, best known for costume dramas, and excitingly many of the furnishings in Chetwynd Lodge have actually featured in films such as ’Anna and the King’, ’Women in Love’ and ’Sense and Sensibility.’ All of this combined together makes Talbot Lodge and Chetwynd Lodge a totally unique place to stay.

Ingestre lies in the heart of Staffordshire countryside on the edge of Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and for centuries it’s been the home of the Chetwynd-Talbot family who in 1858 inherited the earldom of Shrewsbury. Centrally located in the heart of England, the location benefits from being within easy driving distance of many local attractions as well as the M6 motorway, and Cannock Chase itself is a vast and beautiful forest covering a large part of the Staffordshire area, where you can take part in a whole manner of outdoor pursuits.

The nearest large village is Great Haywood, which is just 5 minutes away, and is home to shops, two pubs and a restaurant. Around 15 minutes away is the town of Stafford which has a wide range of shopping and recreation facilities, together with excellent restaurants to suit every taste. The National Trust’s Shugbourough Hall, the ancestral home of the Earls of Lichfield, is around a 10-minute drive, as is Staffordshire County Showground, which hosts many events and antique markets on most weekends.
Staffordshire boasts a whole host of visitor attractions and open countryside with the World of Wedgewood (30 minutes), Alton Towers and Drayton Manor theme parks (both 45 minutes), the Peak District National Park (1 hour) and Trentham Monkey Forest (30 minutes) to name but a few. Finally you could book a riding lesson at on-site Ingestre Riding School, play golf at Ingestre Park Golf Club and St. Thomas Priory Golf Course, or perhaps try clay pigeon shooting at nearby Oakedge Shooting Ground. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 1¼ miles.
Talbot Lodge (ref UKC3849) and Chetwynd Lodge (ref UKC3942) can be booked together to accommodate up to 16 guests.
