With sumptuous furnishings and stunning co-ordinations using neutral colour schemes and gentle accents and accessories, these beautiful barns make the ideal retreat to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings. Every thought has gone into providing guests with a wonderful holiday experience. Great Foxmoor Barn (ref UKC1520) has an impressive entrance hall, with high vaulted celings and a mixture of original and new beams, and feature statement lighting over the solid dining table. This huge open plan living space comfortably seats 8 guests and overlooks the superb open views, and upstairs the large galleried landing leads to 4 well presented bedrooms, one with en-suite and an impressive family bathroom. Little Foxmoor Barn (ref UKC1521) also offers a beautifully presented large open plan living/dining space with well-equipped kitchen and a contemporary range, with two generous sized bedrooms upstairs, also using the finest linens and careful styling. From either property step outside to enjoy al fresco dining and savour the amazing view with a drink or two before dinner. There is a sauna room available with relaxation/seating area and shower, on request at £20 per hour (only permitted use for guests over 18 years of age), and also a professional masseuse available by arrangement. Active guests looking for an adventure can hire electric bikes (at cost) from the owners and use them to explore the Surrey Hills and the North Downs, safety equipment will be provided.
Foxmoor Barns are located adjacent to the owner’s country home, and are surrounded by woodland and farmland with direct access onto numerous public rights of way. Leith Hill is a perfect destination for walking, mountain biking and road cycling. There are miles of open access trails across the common and National Trust land. Leith Hill Tower (National Trust), forms the highest point in south east England with panoramic views across the Weald to the South Downs and north towards London, and is only a 15-minute walk away. Leith Hill Place, a Grade I Listed National Trust property, is also a 15-minute walk. It was once a favourite visiting place of the famous naturalist, Charles Darwin, and it now attracts many visitors to its gardens. Ralph Vaughan Williams, the famous composer, resided there, and his wife was from the Wedgewood family, famous for its porcelain. There are many other historic properties nearby including Polesden Lacey, Hatchlands, Hampton Court and the Royal Botanic Gardens at Wakehurst Place. Box Hill is only a 15-20 minute drive which was the setting for the picnic in Jane Austen’s ‘Emma’, with views over Denbies wine estate where you can take a tour.
There many quintessential country villages a short distance away, including Holmbury St Mary which is considered one of the prettiest villages in Surrey, and is believed to be the basis for the fictional village of Summer Street in E.M. Forster’s novel ‘A Room with a View’. Hurtwood Common, on Holmbury Hill, is the largest area of common land in Surrey, and is the home to Mullard Space Science Laboratory, which is the largest space research group in the UK.
There are a number of local farm shops and country pubs within a short drive. For evening entertainment, there are local theatres and cinemas nearby, including The Yvonne Arnaud at Guildford. Trains from Dorking and Guildford run regularly to London and take less than an hour.
