During the summer months enjoy the spacious, enclosed garden with ample terraces for a memorable barbecue, or fish (equipment not provided) in the streams within the grounds. In the winter, after a brisk short walk to the local pub, where the main bar dates back to the 15th century and beer is served from two hatches straight from the barrel, you can return to the farmhouse and relax by the roaring open fire or wood burner.
The village of Billingshurst is 4 miles away; from here you can take a boat trip on the Wey and Arun Canal and slip back to a slow-paced, bygone era. Visit National Trust Petworth Mansion and Park, which was landscaped by Capability Brown. See the birds at the RSPB Pulborough Brooks Nature Reserve and the remains of the motte and bailey Pulborough Castle. Arundel also has a splendid castle, just 19 miles away. There are many country pursuits available nearby including golf, fishing, polo at Ewhurst and Midhurst, home to Cowdray Park, and horse racing at Goodwood and Fontwell Park. The beach at Worthing is approximately 20 miles away and the cathedral town of Chichester is well worth a visit, where you can enjoy one of the popular lunchtime concerts in the cathedral. Billingshurst offers regular rail services to London and Gatwick. Beach 20 miles. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
