These two stylishly converted, single-storey detached barns, standing adjacent, have been thoughtfully and tastefully designed in a neutral and Scandinavian manner. Vaulted ceilings and sleek fixtures and fittings make these properties feel light and airy, and the oak floors and doors give it a warm and welcoming feel.

Set in the courtyard of a classic, thatched farmhouse on a working sheep farm, the properties are easily accessed from the parking area. Guests are free to wander the secured fields that surround them as well as utilise the open space beyond their own private patios. There’s plenty of space for a game of croquet on the lawn!

These properties are ideally located less than 10 minutes’ drive between the historic city of Chichester and the National Trust beach at West Wittering with its beautiful sand dunes and vast expanse of sands at low tide. Chichester is home to the cathedral, the Pallant Gallery and the Festival Theatre, known for its highly acclaimed productions, and for your convenience, there is a regular bus service from almost outside the farm entrance.

Goodwood, set in the South Downs, famous for its motorsport events and racing meets, as well as a beautiful golf course, is only about 15 minutes’ drive away.

Guests can hire a boat or take a fishing trip on board the foot ferry across to picturesque Bosham. East Wittering has hire shops for water sports equipment including paddle boards and canoes. There are walks and cycle paths along the coast, or into Chichester along the canal along with great dog walks and rambles in the South Downs with many pubs and inns on the way.

Pagham Nature Reserve is known for good birdwatching, as are the marshes and reed beds along the coast (binoculars supplied). The farm backs on to the marina with a restaurant, and there are a number of pubs and restaurants within a short drive as well as the facilities in Chichester.

Nearby, famous stately homes can be found including Uppark with an excellent museum portraying its restoration after a devasting fire; the impressive Petworth House, set in a pretty town full of antique shops; and Arundel, dominated by its medieval castle. Closer to home is Fishborne Roman Palace and the Novium Museum in Chichester, with excavations and Roman artefacts.

The South Downs is also the setting for the Weald and Open Air Museum which is home to a number of historic buildings and gardens, mostly medieval. West Dean has the most interesting gardens especially the walled vegetable garden. Portsmouth is 20 minutes away with its historic shipyard, museums, waterside dining and retail outlet shopping. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The cottages can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.
