The village nestles under the Cotswold escarpment, providing an excellent base for touring amid lovely scenery. Quaint towns, villages, historic houses, castles, gardens and good walking close by. Broadway Tower situated on Broadway hill is the second highest point in the Costwolds, offers panoramic views of the area (once admired by the artist William Morris) and rural country walks. There are many country houses to visit in the area such as Hidcote Manor house and garden, Stanway House, Sudeley Castle with banqueting hall and tomb of Catherine Parr or the National Trust property Snowshill Manor, a restored 17th-century house with Jacobean furniture. Stratford, the birthplace of Shakespeare is renowned for its Tudor architecture with its broad streets of half-timbered houses. Visit the Regency spa town of Cheltenham or Stow-on-the-Wold or the ancient wool town of Burford with their many antique shops. Bourton-on-the-Water with its many tourist attractions, the Malvern hills and Moreton in Marsh an ancient market town with many old coaching inns, all an easy drive.
