Nestled in the outstanding natural beauty of the Chiltern Hills you’ll find this authentic English country house, the perfect place for a peaceful and relaxing getaway for up to fourteen guests.
As you pull into the driveway of this stylish property, welcomed by relaxing birdsong, rolling lawns and a glistening private pool, you will know without fear that you will have a memorable, magical holiday in the peaceful grounds of Langley Place. With four living areas to choose from, there are plenty of places to relax and catch up with your guests. Why not take afternoon tea in the sun-filled orangery, then in the evening sink into the comfortable lounge sofas in front of a roaring wood-burner. For those looking for a bit of competition the games room is the place to be with pool table, table tennis and table football, whilst keeping match-fit won’t be a problem in the house’s own impressive gym, stocked with exercise bikes, weight bench and more.
A stylish take on the English country garden, Langley Place has a light and airy open plan kitchen dining area complete with everything you could need to cater for a large group from Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher right through to the wine glasses. Al fresco dining in the summer is a must with a charcoal grill, and all utensils provided. The property has seven bedrooms (ten beds) and seven bathrooms arranged across the main house and the annexe building, all tastefully designed to match the idyllic setting of the home with warm fabrics and luxurious linens. The master bathroom boasts a fabulous freestanding bath, where you can enjoy a candlelit soak at the end of a busy day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The house’s fantastic pool is perfect for a summertime dip, with sunloungers provided for the ultimate relaxation in the tree-lined privacy of the glorious garden. Whilst the outdoor furniture allows you to sit back and enjoy a glass of Pimms on the lawn. If you can be tempted away from this idyllic spot then explorers will not be disappointed with the endless walking and cycle routes through the stunning Chilterns, charming villages and the bustling riverside town of Henley just a fifteen-minute drive away with its restaurants, shops and water activities.
Situated within the Chilterns area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house’s surrounding area has something for everyone. Just a stone’s throw away is the historic English Heritage property Stonor Park, that not only offers tours around the beautiful Stonor family mansion and chapel but boasts picturesque gardens and an exceptional wild woodland play park to keep all the family happy. Also close by is the stunning National Trust property Greys Court with its grand Tudor home, icehouse and breath-taking 125-year-old wisteria. Enjoy a slice of cake or bowl of warming soup at the on-site teahouse before taking in the breath-taking grounds.
Water-babies should head to the bustling Henley-on-Thames to take full advantage of the lively riverside scene. Try your hand at rowing and paddle boarding or hire a private boat to discover quieter spots, perfect for a glass of champagne and a picnic along the riverbeds. The annual Henley Regatta is a big event here and offers guests a chance to dress up to the nines whilst they watch the races take place on the water. The Henley Riverside and Rowing Museum is worth a visit with displays of sporting achievement and a charming exhibit on the riverbank world of the Wind in the Willows, perfect for little ones.
There are a number of beautiful walks and cycle trails to enjoy in the Chiltern Hills, we recommend a trip to Watlington Hill for a perfect panoramic view of the surrounding countryside finished off perfectly with a Sunday roast at Fox and Hounds in the charming village of Christmas Common. A little further afield is the Georgian town of Marlow, an idyllic riverside town and the home of Tom Kerridge’s The Hand and Flowers, the first gastropub to receive two Michelin stars which is well worth a visit.
