SHEARWATER:
Welcome to our Summertime home, a place to sit and watch the world go by or relax listening to the waves. Shearwater is a frontline lodge, overlooking the Christchurch Bay, with views of the Isle of Wight.
There is a large deck with outside table and four chairs, plus two armchairs and a coffee table for those balmy evenings.
There is also a sky deck on the roof with two sun loungers providing privacy for sunbathing. This is accessed via a spiral staircase, therefore not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
Our lodge has a spacious, sunny, open plan living area with a fully fitted kitchen, providing a breakfast bar with two stools plus a dining table set for four. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric fan oven, gas hob with cooker hood, full-sized dishwasher and washing machine. There is a large fridge/freezer and microwave.
The lounge area has two comfortable sofas and one armchair and a large TV fitted with an Amazon firestick and DVD player. There is also a Bluetooth speaker.
There are two double bedrooms equipped with double beds, the master having a walk-in wardrobe, dressing table and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom has a fitted wardrobe. There is a lovely family bathroom with bath and shower over.
There's nothing quite like listening to the sea before going to sleep. We hope you love our holiday home as much as we do.
MUDEFORD AND CHRISTCHURCH:
Shearwater is sited on the holiday park of Sandhills in Mudeford. Mudeford Quay has a lovely harbour feel with fishing boats moored along the sea wall; a fresh fish stall; a small souvenir shop where buckets, spades and crab fishing equipment can be purchased and a local pub, The Haven House Inn, all within walking distance of our lodge.
You can buy tickets for the ferry to take you across the water to the Spit and Hengistbury Head, which has a beautiful beach and nature reserve. There is a cafe situated on the Spit called the Beach Hut, which serves drinks and fresh food.
There are various eateries within walking distance of the lodge, including The Noisy Lobster on Avon Beach and The Jetty, where you can enjoy award winning dining.
Christchurch is a busy vibrant town, with a weekly market held on a Monday between 9am and 4pm. It is a short ten minute drive and there is plenty of parking and numerous shops, including independent boutiques and excellent restaurants to suit all budgets. Worthy of a visit is the Red House Museum and gardens which hosts events during the Summer months. There is the stunning Christchurch Priory with beautiful riverside walks alongside the ruins or great tower, which was part of a large Norman castle that once dominated the town.
Activities in the area include paddleboarding (boards can be hired on the green by the harbour car park), boating, crabbing and there is a heated pool on the holiday park available for use by lodge occupants and a shallow splash pool for the children.
This cottage is located in Christchurch. Littledown Sports Center and Boscombe Chine Gardens Mini Golf Course are local attractions and those in the mood for shopping can visit Castle Point Shopping Centre and Tower Park. Bournemouth Adventure Wonderland and Bournemouth Pier are also worth visiting.
