The tiny hamlet of Welsh Newton Common is situated between the beautiful Monnow and Wye Valleys amidst the borderlands of England and Wales. It is close to Offa s Dyke and the attractive market town of Monmouth with its mixture of elegant Georgian mansions and Victorian courtyards, offering excellent shops, pubs and restaurants. For the more energetic there is great walking and cycling available from your door, including walks along Offa s Dyke, the Wye and Monnow Valleys and the Forest of Dean, as well as horse riding and canoeing nearby. The area is also rich in heritage, with many castles including Monmouth, Goodrich & Raglan Castles, and numerous beautiful churches including the remains of the stunning Tintern Abbey just half an hour away. Other attractions include Clearwell Castle and Caves, Puzzle Wood, Symonds Yat, Monmouth Activity Centre and Hereford with its beautiful cathedral, excellent shopping and of course the Mappa Mundi. Set on the edge of the valley above Monmouth, the property boasts breathtaking views stretching across the Wye Valley and to the Black Mountains. Your front entrance leads you into a simple breakfast room with sofa and desk, table and chairs the perfect place for a lazy breakfast enjoying the morning sun. This leads into the spacious, comfortable sitting room with its range of family games, books and DVDs for all ages and tastes: a cosy room for getting together and enjoying a movie or putting your feet up after a day s walking. The kitchen is the hub of this home, welcoming the best of chefs: it s well equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, large fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer and both a cafetiere and coffee filter machine! A large farmhouse table and chairs invite you to enjoy a hearty meal and linger on into the evening unless of course you decide to sit outside and watch the sun go down. When the day is done this single storey accommodation has three bedrooms: one spacious double with TV and en suite bathroom with large corner shower, WC and basin; one twin made up of two adjoining single rooms with an open doorway between them; and one large twin. All bedrooms have French doors opening to courtyards that surround the property. There is also a family bathroom with a shower over the luxurious corner bath, basin and WC. Heading outside, you can relax over breakfast or an evening barbecue watching the sun set, play croquet on the large flat lawn outside the cottage or explore the grounds and take in the wildlife (we have masses of rabbits, squirrels & hundreds of birds including majestic buzzards which soar proudly over their domain), ponds and woodland.
