Beaches and Coastal Path100 metres walk along the coastal path in front of the house is an easy stroll away and a lovely safe sandy beach. Take the coastal path onward around the headland to Llanddona beach which has a wide expanse of sand and safe bathing. A short drive up the coast is Benllech with a popular sandy beach small children will enjoy the rock pools at low tide and dogs will love the freedom. Drive up to the small seaside village of Moelfre much like a small Cornish village and enjoy the fine view with the lovely Lligwy beach beyond. Explore different areas of the Coastal Path recommended is the walk around Porth Eilean near Amlwch a pretty secluded little bay with a rugged coastline and spectacular views. Din Lligwy pre historic siteWalk across the fields to this evocative site of stone round and rectangular houses well preserved where walls rise waist high and door lintels still standing. With trees dancing in the wind and complete absence of modern buildings nearby its deeply atmospheric on a summer's evening - well worth a visit. BeaumarisOne of the loveliest locations right on the Menai Strait with its mixture of Georgian and Victorian houses, independent shops, romantic castle surrounded by a moat and long pier to enjoy the views across the Strait onto the Snowdon Massif. Snowdonia National ParkShore Cottage is a great base from which to explore the beauty of Walesâ largest national Park. Take a train ride to the summit of Snowdonia - the star of the National Park. It is the highest mountain in England and Wales. For the more energetic you could walk to the top. Whichever way you choose to get to the top, it will be an unforgettable experience!Plas Newydd (National Trust) Set overlooking the Menai Strait and across to Snowdonia and with the mighty Britannia Bridge in the foreground. Beautiful rolling lawns dotted with mature beech and lime trees with a riot of colours in Spring of magnolias, azaleas and hydrangea in Summer, woodland walks with tree houses and play areas. The manor house is also interesting with memorabilia of the battle of Waterloo where the 1st Marquis of Anglesey lost his leg and large wall murals by Rex Whistler a friend of the family. Places to EatClose by on the headland at Red Wharf Bay is The Boathouse Restaurant which is excellent plus the Ship Inn next door for a pint and a delicious Sunday lunch. Down in Menai Bridge is Dylan's restaurant in a beautiful spot on the water's edge (booking advisable). In Menai Bridge stock up at Waitrose or head for Beaumaris where there are excellent shops a superb butchers and bakery. Enjoy a meal at Anglesey's premier hotel The Bull lunch in their brasserie a drink in their traditional bar with a roaring fire or book dinner in The Loft restaurant. Golf Just beyond Beaumaris at Henllys Hall, is the Princes Golf Club with a lovely course dotted with oak trees and views across the Menai Strait. Up the coast beyond Amlwch is Bull Bay Golf Club with a challenging course set above the rugged coastline. Newborough Nature Reserve and Llanddwyn IslandSet beyond Plas Newydd on the western side of the island is this amazing nature reserve, a birdwatchers paradise with hides hidden amongst the pine woods, look out for the red squirrel which thrive on the island and walk along fabulous Newborough beach to Llanddwyn Island and the little lighthouse at the end.
