The property is approached along a private road, surrounded by open fields, with views to rolling hills and woodland. As well as the beautiful landscape, there is an abundance of wildlife; foxes, hares, badgers and roe deer are frequent visitors, as are buzzards, kestrels and skylarks, with swallows darting in and out of the buildings in summer. Stillington is the nearest village, 2 miles away, and has a shop and a choice of pubs. There are more extensive facilities within a short drive. York is 12 miles away, with must see attractions like the gothic Minster, Railway Museum and Yorvik Viking Centre. There is an abundance of thriving market towns nearby, wonderful rural walks, and Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast are in easy reach. No attention to detail has been spared in the conversion of this former granary, which forms part of the original Grade II listed farmhouse and buildings. It is the only holiday cottage on the site, with the owners living across the courtyard garden in the farmhouse. They are at hand if needed, but your privacy is assured. Inside, the unusually spacious property includes almost 1,000 square feet of living space, with stylish décor and a high end finish. The interior is warm and comfortable, featuring an open plan living area and fitted kitchen. The lounge area is complete with a wood burner, while the kitchen is equipped with all the amenities you'll need to prepare homecooked food before sitting down at the farmhouse dining table, perfect for two. There are also two outdoor terraces for al fresco meals when weather permits. Upstairs, the true character of the 200 year old granary is revealed, with A frames and purlins exposed. The bathroom is large, with a freestanding bath, a separate shower and a WC, while the double bedroom, with a super king bateau lit (sleigh bed) is amazingly comfortable. Open the glazed doors in the gable end to enjoy the views of the Yorkshire Wolds from the delightful Juliet balcony, or watch deer or hares in the nearby fields. Outside, you'll find a sheltered stone terrace with table and chairs, so you can sit in the sunshine and drink in your picture postcard surroundings. For enthusiasts, there is a tennis court available by arrangement, or you can put your boots on and set off on a walk from your front door. You are welcome to make use of the large barn next door which is perfect for storing bikes, while parking is never an issue in this rural situation. Dogs are not permitted, but you will meet the owners three friendly spaniels; any more would be a crowd.
