Shops, pubs, cafes and the famous Whitby Abbey are located within a short stroll. Ideal for couple retreats, family getaways and staycations with friends, Henderson House is a lovely spot on the coast to rest your head.
The Space:
Spread across four floors, Henderson House is a unique apartment. On the first floor, you’ll find the kitchen. With pale green cladded walls, beamed ceilings and an original fireplace, the kitchen has a country cottage feel. Traditional in style, it has wooden cabinets and high shine, black worktops. It is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge, kettle and microwave so you’ll be able to enjoy home cooked meals during your stay.
The dining room is located on the second floor. This quirky space includes sloped ceilings, a skylight window and a rustic colourful dining table with industrial metal chairs. There is also a vintage dresser which fits in perfectly with this characterful room.
Head upstairs again to the third floor and you’ll find the living room and the bathroom. The living room is welcoming and homely. With pale green coloured walls and a statement white fireplace, there is an ambient and relaxing feel to the space. Ideal for relaxing, the room is complete with a blue velvet sofa and a matching armchair. Turn on the flat screen TV and watch your favourite shows with your loved ones.
The bathroom is clean and stylish. Crisp white walls are complemented with dove grey cladding and there is a traditional freestanding bathtub. The space is complete with a WC and Victorian style basin.
On the fourth floor there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom boasts a king size bed with a light grey headboard and premium bedding. Packed with charm, there are matching white bedside tables and nautical cushions.
The second bedroom has two single beds. Ideal for children, teenagers and friends, this twin room has a light colour scheme to create a tranquil feel. White wooden furniture and checked blinds add to the cottage style of the property.
Host & Stay are committed to our owners that their homes are protected during bookings. For this reason, we require all of our guests to transfer a £250.00 Damage Deposit (subject to a £10.00 administration charge) or, to purchase an Accidental Damage Waiver for £25.00 which will cover you for up to £500.00 of accidental damage during your stay.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full apartment. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
We provide a parking scratch card for your stay which gives you free parking in the W zones in Whitby. Additional free parking can be found nearby, and full details will be sent to you before check in.
Please note that there are a number of steps to climb to reach Henderson House.
The Neighborhood:
Henderson House is located on the iconic Flowergate – one of the oldest and most historic streets in Whitby. You’ll find cosy cafes, restaurants and shops lining the street, so the apartment is ideally located.
The Blue Flag West Cliff beach and promenade is just a short 5-minute walk from the property. On Pier Road, you’ll find fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants where you can sample the catch of the day.
The other side of Whitby is full of narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques and pubs. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Step outside of Whitby and you’ll uncover a haven of woodland and moorland. Whitby forms part of the North York Moors National Park so it’s the perfect place for long walks.
Getting Around:
Henderson House is located in the centre of Whitby so the town can easily be explored on foot.
Whitby train station is just a short 5-minute walk away so villages and towns along the North Yorkshire coast can easily be reached via rail. There’s also a taxi rank in close proximity to the train station.
There are plenty of bus routes throughout Whitby. Hop on the X4 and you can visit beautiful coastal villages like Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Staithes. The X93 travels along the coast to Scarborough. The 95 route features plenty of quaint villages, such as Grosmont and Lealholm.
