The apartment enjoys a very spacious, open plan living space, tastefully decorated to the very highest standard. It offers a contemporary corner sofa, beautifully adorned with scatter cushions and surrounding a very attractive rug. A trendy shelf system is home to the smart television and the dining table is surrounded by cool, colourful chairs. The views from the huge windows are stunning towards the harbour and town so strategically placed chairs offer excellent spots for people and boat watching. The kitchen is off to one side, a sensational space with gorgeous grey cabinetry, granite work surfaces, striking, bespoke glass fronted cabinets and the very best of appliances. You definitely have no excuse not to cook up a delicious storm here, though the vast array of fantastic restaurants on your doorstep are very tempting. There are lovely views towards the swing bridge from the kitchen window.
From the hallway, you will discover the gorgeous master bedroom with its sumptuous kingsize bed and ornate wall lanterns. It is such a treat to stay here and there is plenty of space for your holiday wardrobe. The master’s ensuite bathroom enjoys a shower with a thermostatic rain head. The second bedroom is also beautiful and enjoys a kingsize bed, fitted wardrobe and a delightful dressing table and stool. This room has use of the wonderful, immaculate family bathroom with its bath and overhead shower.
You will enjoy staying at Whitby Apartment. You may very well be watching the boats for hours on end. It is very addictive! It is a lovely second floor apartment within easy reach of everything that Whitby has to offer. In this location you will enjoy the town, the abbey, the restaurants, the narrow, quirky streets, museums and beyond, you will enjoy walking, cycling, farms, the steam railway, historic castles and wonderful local markets with the very best Yorkshire produce.
Whitby Apartment enjoys a central position in Whitby, overlooking the buzzy harbour. Whitby offers something more than your typical coastal seaside resort. It is famous for its connections to Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Captain Cook and boasts a Gothic culture. Its charming, quirky, narrow cobbled streets are brimming with independent shops and numerous eateries and pubs. The majestic ruins of Whitby Abbey overlook the town, just moments from the apartment. There is a monument to Captain James Cook up on West Cliff where he is looking out to sea. You can also visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum and learn more about his life and time in Whitby.
You should definitely expect to encounter a hill or two in Whitby, not to mention the 199 steps to the abbey and St Mary’s Church. There are plenty of excellent restaurants including the famous Magpie Cafe where you will frequently see queues outside. This renowned quirky restaurant enjoys numerous levels and offers many seafood dishes as well as the delicious, traditional fish and chips.
Visitors enjoy classic seaside fun with crabbing, sandcastle building and walks along the pier, not to mention the amusement arcades. Just along from the main town and harbour you will discover the lovely sandy beaches of Sandsend and Runswick Bay. Sandsend was originally two villages, Sandsend and East Row. There are several delightful cafes for cups of tea and lunches.
The picturesque old fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay is just six miles south of Whitby . It is very attractive and definitely Instagram worthy with a sandy beach, rock pools, ancient fossils, narrow twisting cobbled streets and alleyways. You can easily imagine the fishermen and smugglers walking the streets hundreds of years ago. It is quite easy to get lost in the little warren of lanes lined with old fisherman’s cottages. Most have now been renovated. The village enjoys a good range of cafes, pubs and restaurants as well as charming, unique shops.
Staithes is also a picture postcard unmissable village, clinging to the hillside and boasting winding cobbled streets, 18th century cottages and characterful pubs. This fabulous coastal village was once one the largest fishing ports in the North East but now it is a wonderful hillside gem perfect for exploring Yorkshire’s cliff top paths and the rock pools on the small sandy beach.
There are many stunning coastal and country walks, cycle paths and 800km of bridleways close to Whitby. You will be amazed at the peaceful and tranquil countryside of the North York Moors National Park.
