Rock Cottage is a traditional, detached property overlooking, the charming White Peak village of Winster. With attractive, original features, including exposed beams and period fireplaces, the Cottage is an ideal venue for couples or a small family. It is equipped with a travel cot, a changing mat and a high chair for young families. From the well-appointed kitchen, there is a single step down into the inviting sitting room. Here a glowing, coal-effect, electric fire creates a cosy atmosphere. Tucked away at the end of this room is a dining area where you will also find a large selection of books, local guides and games for evenings and any periods of inclement weather. This is also a great place to spread out maps and make plans for the day ahead. Upstairs, the main double bedroom and the second, single bedroom both have stunning views over the local church across the surrounding countryside. To the side of the cottage, is a surprisingly secluded patio area, with a glass-doored cabin, that contains all you require for alfresco-style dining within the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings. There are a number of shops, pubs and local attractions, all within walking distance, in the heart of Winster. These include the Eighteenth Century Market House, which was the first property to be acquired by the National Trust in Derbyshire. For walkers, the Limestone Way runs alongside the Cottage and Stanton Moor, with the Nine Ladies Stone Circle, and Arbor Low, Derbyshire’s ‘Stonehenge’ are nearby; the Tissington and High Peak trails are ideal for cyclists and there are numerous venues for both bouldering and rock climbing. Head towards Matlock, where you can take in stunning views from the top of Pic Tor War Memorial; hop aboard a Peak Rail steam train or a vintage tram at the National Tram Museum at Crich or marvel at the sights from an alpine-style cable car while ascending to the Heights of Abraham, where there are natural caves and a museum with fossils. Be sure to visit Bakewell, where you will find the historic Bakewell Bridge, the Old House Museum and of course, Bakewell Pudding! Situated just a short drive from Chatsworth House and both Haddon and Hassop halls and a score of pretty market towns and villages, nestling in a picturesque, rural landscape, Rock Cottage is an ideal base from which to experience the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Peak District.
