If you are looking for a complete rest and get-away from it all, this is the choice for you. In an absolute oasis of peace and tranquility this wonderful use of an original Gooseneck Caravan completely makes the most of the amazing location, tucked away in a peaceful corner of the owner’s 27 acres of grounds. There is a large decking area right in front, with a wood fired hot tub, table and chairs and if the weather is cloudy, a huge retractable awning which enables you to sit out whatever the weather and enjoy the expansive views over the meadows, fields and beyond to the Montrose Basin.
Inside, the spacious living area has a very comfortable sofa as well as two revolving easy chairs, a well-equipped kitchen area with gas cooker, fridge/freezer and microwave and, three steps up from the living room is the bedroom with kingsize bed, and shower room. There is a flyscreen door which enable you to enjoy warm evenings and days without unwelcome guests and the owners have put up a squirrel box right outside which is frequented by the native red squirrels, so you should have plenty of close up photo opportunities of these charming creatures. The lodge is so named not because of its design but because in Autumn the Basin sees thousands of pink footed geese flocking there to roost; the sight of them coming in is truly one of natures spectacles and guests will get a first class view. Guests also have the freedom to visit the Gardens here at Langley Park, open to visitors during the day (set apart from the holiday home). The gardens are a labour of love by the owners who have restored, since 2001, what was an overgrown wilderness into a thing of beauty; there are four walled gardens, each one painstakingly created in a relaxed, semi-formal style and 27 acres incorporating a wildlife and flower meadow, really enhancing the biodiversity – you will spot roe deer, butterflies, squirrels and many species of birds as you meander through the mown paths.
If you can tear yourself away, the area is full of attractions for interesting days out; Montrose itself has plenty of shops, tennis courts, golf courses and a fantastic sandy beach where dolphins, porpoises and seals are often spotted from the shoreline. The cities of Dundee and Aberdeen are easily reached if you fancy a bit of culture or retail therapy, while inland, the Angus Glens are a magnet for walkers and cyclists. This is a place you will want to return to again and again.
