Vorlich Cottage is set within an 18th century watermill and stunningly located in the heart of the Loch Lomond National Park. Situated in its own 10 acres within a private country estate overlooking Loch Lomond , its islands and magificent mountain backdrop, Vorlich Cottage provides a unique location with unforgettable scenery. The Lorn Mill is a traditional Scottish farm steading and has been owned and lovingly restored by the same family for the last 30 years. There is a private tennis court in the garden for guests to use - it has spectacular views of the Loch so may put you off your game!
The approach to the cottage is up a private wooded track revealing your first sight of Loch Lomond as you round the bend to the Mill. There is plenty of private parking when you arrive. Your front door is reached following a gravel path round the Mill.
There is an entrance hall in which to hang coats and leave boots. The open-plan kitchen /dining room leads off from the hall. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and round dining table for 6 . A garden door leads you onto a tiled area for outdoor eating, the garden and tennis court.
Off the entrance hall is the downstairs bedroom (can be made up as a kingsized double or twin beds). It has an ensuite shower room with large power shower, basin, WC, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
The staircase leading up from the entrance hall takes you to the upstairs sitting room and second ensuite bedroom. The sitting room has a log burning stove, large window overlooking the garden, tennis court, mountains and glimpses of the Loch. You will see gorgeous sunsets from here and amazing streaky evening skies. The room provides TV, DVD, docking station and games, books and magazines.
The bedroom, with king sized bed, has an ensuite shower room with large power shower, basin, WC, heated towel rail and underfloor heating.
The entire cottage has recently been refurbished with mellow colours, new tiling, flooring and carpets with original art and limited editions all providing an extremely comfortable, warm and inviting place to stay. The property is heated by oil fired central heating. All linen, towels, electricity and heating are included in the price. There is a small laundry room with washing machine and drying racks for guests to use. The property has its own spring water supply, filtered and regularly checked by the Council .
There is free wifi but the service is not super speedy so guests have to patient.
There are wonderful walks straight from your cottage - you can stroll down to the Loch shore through woods and field (approx 20 minutes), walk into nearby Balloch on the private estate road (approx 2 miles) or enjoy leafy walks through the Woodland Trust grounds. Balloch (4 miles by main road) provides an efficient railway station (trains go straight into Glasgow and onwards to Edinburgh) large supermarket, cash machines, pubs, restaurants and Tourist Information Centre.
Day trips to Glen Coe, Oban and Fort William are an option, or visit castles, distilleries and galleris in Inverary, Stirling or Edinburgh.
There will be welcome goodies and fresh garden flowers on arrival. The owners will be there to meet you and look forward to having you to stay. Guests return again and again to Vorlich Cottage because of its unique location and superb accommodation.
Please note, in the busy summer weeks we accept weekly bookings only.
