Connel 6.8 miles. Resting in an elevated position down a farm track in Taynuilt, Argyll & Bute is Achanlochan Farm, a charming, three-bedroom cottage. Perfect for a family of explorers or group of friends, this cottage boasts stunning views and a peaceful area home to wildlife including red squirrels and deer. On arrival at the cottage, off-road parking allows you to unload your bag with ease, before stepping into the home and starting your holiday. Fit with an electric Range cooker and dining seating for six guests, the kitchen/diner provides space to catch up on the day's activities while the chef of your group whips up a tasty meal. From here, the sitting room welcomes you in to snuggle up and flick on the TV while the woodburning stove crackles and warms the space around you. Outside, you can enjoy the view with your morning coffee spent in the garden; trees, hills and wildlife are in abundance in this scenic area. Completing the ground-floor is a family bathroom with a roll-top bath inviting you to take a long soak after a day of walking or cycling. When it is time to rest, head upstairs and choose from three well-presented bedrooms; the first is a double with yet more picture-perfect views and a handy en-suite shower room where you can freshen up. The remaining two bedrooms, king-size and a twin, offer a flexible sleeping arrangement for friends sharing or children in the group. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic cottage, why not head into the local village of Taynuilt and treat your loved ones to an afternoon in the tearoom, The Robin's Nest? If you're feeling energetic, you can cycle to Oban, stop for a bite to eat, then catch the train back to save some energy for the next adventure. During your stop in Oban, there is so much to see and do, such as Dunstaffnage Castle and Chapel, Oban Distillery, Dunollie Museum, and Castle and Grounds for a taste of Scottish life. A great day out from the cottage is a visit to the peaceful village of Glencoe which sits at the western end of Loch Leven, where you will find a wealth of fantastic walks and hikes with some wonderful wildlife to look out for along the way. While you’re here take a trip to the National Trust Visitor Centre and discover the story of the infamous Glencoe Massacre. You can also make your way to the gorgeous coast, or go inland to Fort William, a charming town in the Scottish Highlands, situated at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. The town is a popular tourist destination due to its many attractions, including Neptune's Staircase, the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre, and Old Inverlochy Castle. If you really just want a relaxed break, you can pack a picnic and make your way around all of your nearby Loch, including Loch Nant and Sior Loch, to take in the breath-taking landscapes. Choose Achanlochan Farm for a quintessentially Scottish holiday, any time of year.
