Duart Tower A Historic Tower House In The Loch Lomond National Park, Blairmore

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs. Sleeps up to 8

Duart Tower is a category C listed tower house designed in the style of Alexander (Greek) Thompson who was famed for his Italianate style of architecture. There was a later addition to the house around 1900 in the Arts and Crafts style. It is a striking design which stands out above the shore and features in several publications. It has breathtaking views down Loch Long and beyond. Duart Tower was built for the MacLeans of Duart Castle as a holiday home. The Robertson clan's coat of arms was later added to the large stained glass window which underwent renovation in recent years.

Duart Tower is steeped in history and has had some well known inhabitants, including one of the suffragettes and the soldier who was the first to be shot on Armistice day whilst playing football with the enemy. The unusual stone structure in the front garden is said to have been used as a preaching stone by John Knox during the reformation.

Beautifully furnished historic home in a breathtaking location. It comprises of sitting room, dining room, whisky-room/snug, games room, five bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house has been upgraded in recent years to offer a high specification of finish and today’s technology. It has smart TVs in the kitchen and living room and Bose sound system in ground floor with outside speakers. The kitchen which was formerly servants quarters includes, quartz worktops, painted oak doors, range style cooker, American style fridge & freezer, built in dishwasher, microwave, wine fridge, ice maker, contemporary extractor fan and is fully equipped.

There are three double rooms all with queen size beds. There is also a bunk bed room for children or lightweights as weight restricted. The fifth room is not a conventional bedroom but in the tower. It’s fantastic space for star gazing and has a super comfy single bed.

A decked area to the rear of the house offers a lovely place for alfresco entertaining. From here the views over the water are simply breathtaking. There is an outdoor pizza oven and small plunge pool, only useable during Summer months and is not fenced (any children would need to be fully supervised at all times.). To the side there are two large Indian stone patios both with outdoor furniture/dining areas and weber gas and charcoal bbq's.

There are acacia solid wooden floors throughout most of the principle rooms so no heels allowed - sorry.

Located in Dunoon, this vacation home is in a rural area and on the beach.
