Situated just off the M4 in south WALES between Swansea and Cardiff it is the ideal location to explore the south Wales valleys. It has a coastline of approx 5 miles with beautiful sandy beaches and a rocky beach at Southerndown.
Its beaches are famous for surfing, wind surfing and skateboarding. The beach at Porthcawl retains traditional seaside charms such as donkey rides and a funfair whist the promenade hosts many ice-cream parlors and coffee shops. Porthcawl is steeped in local history and the Museum and Historical Society has many fascinating exhibitions and information on the area. It’s located on JOHN STREET, the main throughfair of Porthcawl.
Porthcawl is home to the Annual Elvis and Rockabilly festivals.
There are many beautiful walks about the area, not least the WELLS WALK. Well worth the effort. Golfers will love the area with many courses to choose from, not least the ROYAL PORTHCAWL. Surfers can be seen on the beach at Porthcawl and on the famous REST BAY at the opposite end of the promenade from the house. Porthcawl has a lot to offer, far more than I can include here so I draw your attention to the excellent description on the BRIDGEND BOROUGH COUNCIL web site and the TOURIST INFORMATION SITE
Located in Porthcawl, this vacation home is by the sea. Kenfig National Nature Reserve and Margam Country Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Bridgend Minature Railway and Surf School Wales. Surfing/body boarding and fishing offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and cycling nearby.
