Whether recharging your batteries and enjoying the beautiful tranquil setting, walking, cycling, or visiting the magnificent, historic towns of Ely and Cambridge, these cottages are the ideal base.
The Space:
Whooper cottage has two lovely double bedrooms, a master bathroom upstairs, sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and dining room and a downstairs loo.
Bewick cottage has two lovely double bedrooms and master bathroom upstairs. Beautiful and charming sitting room with log burner. Spacious, newly fitted and fully equipped kitchen and a separate, lovely dining room.
Both cottages are extremely cosy and comfortable with ample space for family or friends.
The cottages are semi detached with their own entrances and suitable for 8 people in total. There is a large and lovely green space outside to enjoy.
Guest Access:
Guests have full and exclusive use of the entire cottages and will not be disturbed during their stay.
The Neighborhood:
Set in beautiful and serene countryside. The cottages are very close to the world famous Ouse washes and WWT Welney - the largest Washlands in the U.K. It is a bird watcher's paradise with many different species of bird present all year round. In winter they attract thousands of migratory Bewick and Whooper swans from Siberia and Iceland as well as several species of duck. In summer they are home to hundreds of snipe, lapwing, redshank and many other species of bird. Hares, otters and many smaller mammals are also present.
In the winter months there are twice daily (afternoon and evening) swan feeds and there are many guided warden tours to choose from (to see hares, bats and various flora etc)
The cottages are also close to the historic town of Ely with its thriving market, river walks and boat trips. The magnificent Ely cathedral is known as the ship of the fens as it stands tall on a rare sight - a hill in the fens!
Getting Around:
We have private, secure parking for your car or cars directly outside the cottage.
The coast is only one hour drive away and in other direction you have Cambridge and then on to market town of Bury St Edmunds (40 mins).
Other Things to Note:
No groups of male friends please or stag parties. No groups of friends under 30 please. If you are a group of friends please contact us first to provide more information about your stay, thank you.
We will occasionally accept well behaved, house trained dogs but will always need to be contacted first and additional charges will apply.
