On the edge above Swythamley there is a famous landmark - the Hanging Stone, with a fine view over the surrounding countryside. There is fine walking and climbing on The Roaches, and many lovely cycle trails in the area. Alton Towers, Leek, Buxton and Ashbourne are all within easy reach.
