Venture down to explore the local village of Millbrook, where you will find a good selection of well-stocked shops, pubs, cafes and a couple of restaurants for when you don’t feel like cooking. Also, there are more restaurants and pubs in Kingsand and Cawsand. Take a leisurely stroll around the Millbrook Dam where you can expect fantastic scenery and a glimpse of the local wildlife. Make a stop at The Byre Gallery in the village centre, where you can expect a warm welcome and beautiful artwork and jewellery which is available to purchase, a wonderful souvenir to remember your trip by. Iroko walls have large photo canvases of local scenes from a local photographer that are available to buy as a souvenir. Just a short drive away is the remarkable 16th-century Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park where you can view a wide variety of art, tapestries and porcelain, as well as the picturesque formal grounds. Pack up a picnic and head to the beautiful beach of Whitsand Bay, where you can expect three miles of glorious sand with rock pools speckled along the beach and the Adventure Bay surf school, where you can hire boards, take lessons, or try coasteering, and the historical landmark of Whitsand Bay Fort, which provides spectacular views over the bay. For a wider selection of amenities and attractions, head to the city of Plymouth, which can be accessed via a scenic drive or ferry from the beautiful beaches of Cawsand and Kingsand. You will be spoilt for choice for things to do, with the delightful Royal William Yard, set on a beautiful marina and housing a good selection of restaurants and shops in its 1800’s buildings, it is a visual feast. Treat the kids to a day out at the National Marine Aquarium where they can enjoy meeting an array of marine life in an art-deco setting.
