Gurnard's Cottage, St Ives

Cornwall. Sleeps up to 3

Seaward facing with stunning views across Gurnard's Head towards the Atlantic coastline, this characterful granite cottage nestles in the working farm hamlet of Treen, three quarters of a mile from Zennor and within six miles of sublime St Ives. The ground floor entrance leads into a modern kitchen, through to the quaint sitting room with ceiling beams and exposed granite walls as well as a superb fireplace with wood burner. A second door then leads into the sunroom, opening into the gravelled courtyard patio, the perfect spot for a nightcap. On the first floor you will find the pretty main bedroom is comfy and cosy with exposed stone wall and also the single room perfect for a child or adult. There is an open garden at the front which has a bench and also a tap for muddy paws or sandy toes. The Cornwall Coast Path is paces away. Ten minutes walk away, accessed by scrambling across rocks, lies sheltered, sandy Treen Cove, with its towering ruined copper mine. The end one of four old cottages within a small cluster of properties, Gurnard's Cottage has romantic charm, with its tranquil situation also attracting serious walkers, artists, photographers and writers. Neighbouring dairy cows idle by twice daily, and a renowned pub restaurant is a short stroll up the lane. Zennor is a tiny village snuggled in a craggy valley of moorland nooks and rocky hills, scattered with footpaths and antiquities including Zennor Quoit and nearby Chysauster Settlement. It is home to a gift shop, cafe and ice cream shop and church with its own legendary mermaid - nearby is the ancient Tinner’s Arms pub. Cornwall's historic mining landscape lies nearby, including the spectacular Crown Mines at Botallack. A tranquil cottage in an outstanding location, perfect for couples or a small family.
