Enjoy a stunning coastal break at this renovated Cornish farmhouse on a headland where nature thrives, and make the most of its incredible location by keeping your eyes out for seals and sea birds. Ideal for walkers, families or friends, you’ll all love the relaxed pace of life here, not to mention the stunning walks from the door.
At the centre of an ancient farmstead on the gorgeous North Cornish coast, and right next door to Pentire Farmhouse, Pengirt shares the same sense of history, with a clome oven discovered in the kitchen during the recent renovations. Today, this two bedroom retreat is both stylish and traditional with large and uneven flagstones in the kitchen and hallway. Of course, the expansive sea views from the bedrooms (one master ensuite double bedroom and one double bedroom - which can be made up into a twin on request - with ensuite) definitely help as well, and it’s easy to find yourself staring at the mesmerising waves for hours. There’s everything else you need for a relaxing break too - from the beautiful kitchen (that can interconnect with next door if both properties are booked together) to the large living room and dining area. If you feel like an alfresco breakfast, then you’ve got your own outside space at the side of the cottage and there’s a lawn that’s shared with Pentire Farmhouse at the front.
When you stay at Pengirt, Pentire headland is just waiting to be explored. It’s a beautifully unspoilt place, teeming with wildlife, so keep an eye out for grey seals, skylarks and peregrine falcons. And with miles of coastal footpaths all around, plus wonderful sandy beaches to discover, it’s a great spot for a holiday. A 15-minute stroll along the footpath that takes you to the lovely beach at Pentireglaze Haven, which at low tide links to Polzeath beach. The Atlantic waves of Polzeath make it perfect for surfers too. If you’re keener to discover the myriad of coastal paths, then wander to Pentire Point and The Rumps where there are spectacular views towards The Mouls.
Take time to enjoy the sights of this part of north Cornwall. Wander the pretty jumble of white-washed cottages that make up the lively harbour of Port Isaac just over Pentire headland to the north. Or go south towards Rock and jump on the ferry to Padstow, the buzzy little town that’s a foodie’s dream. And no Cornish holiday would be complete without checking out all the nearby beaches. Tintagel Post Office and the stunning Lanhydrock estate (both National Trust) are also nearby.
