The beaches on the south coast are plentiful and varied, from vast swathes of golden sand to shingle beaches with inlets and coves. A visit to beautiful Fowey where country and riverside meet, the harbour town of Looe with its jumble of hilltop cottages, and pretty Polperro, forever linked with tales of smugglers and wreckers, is a must, with pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and cafes a plenty.

The historic naval city of Plymouth lies to the east, with a huge array of attractions, marinas and the famous Hoe. Inland, the mysterious Bodmin Moor with spectacular rock formations, craggy rocks and deep and dark past, contrasts to the green beauty of Dartmoor National Park, with its myriad of greens and browns. Both offer countless walks, whilst in Bodmin, you can hire a bicycle and follow the scenic Camel Trail all the way to Padstow, with a buzzing harbour, galleries and choice of restaurants offering superb culinary delights.
