This deluxe two-bedroom accommodation is light, modern and airy. You have a great base from which to explore East Sussex and beyond. It is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac near Buxted station, so you might leave the car at home. You have lovely walks on your doorstep, but you are also within easy driving distance of Ashdown Forest, The South Downs, the coast, The Bluebell Railway and several National Trust properties. The location is ideal if you are attending a wedding at Buxted Park.
YOUR PLACE
Springfield is professionally cleaned before every stay. There is no extra charge.
Your accommodation has two beds bedrooms. The front bedroom has a comfortable double bed plus a very useful small en suite shower-room. The back bedroom has a 'zip link' Super King bed which splits into two 3f single beds if you require single beds. We have a Jay-Be folding out bed with a sprung mattress to enable you to have a 5th bed in with the 'Super King' room.
Please note: When booking for two people the price is based on two people sharing one room. If you are two people but wish to use both bedrooms there will be a small extra charge towards cleaning and laundry. After 5 days you may use both bedrooms at no extra charge. To get the correct price for more than two people please enter the number of people staying and that will give you the correct price. Please ask if you have any questions with regards to this.
Children are very welcome. We can provide a travel cot (with bedding), with a changing table which attaches to the cot, and also a high chair.
There is a family bathroom with a large shower and standard size bath.
The living room has BT TV plus Netflix. The room is bright, airy and very comfortable.
The kitchen and dining area is spacious and well equipped.
There is complimentary fast wireless broadband.
There is a separate, easy to access games/store room which you may use. Also there is a garden day room with internet TV and a sofa. If you wish to use this room during the day please place a request when booking as it is not always available.
You have exclusive use of your own private patios. There is a coal kettle BBQ for your use.
The middle part of the garden and paths are shared with us. You have two private patio. You may store bikes safely in the garden room. Our home is at the other end of the large garden and we will be available for help and advice during your stay. We will also do our utmost to respect your privacy.
EXTRAS
Before Covid I provide a free shuttle to and from the train station and also to and from Buxted Park Hotel, unfortunately I am unable to help with this at the moment. We can help with your Luggage if you come by train.
Please note if you intend to walk to and from the bungalow, the road leading to the bungalow is a short, but steep hill; great for your cardio-fitness!!
If there is something you need. I'll be very happy to try and help. For example, you may need something for cooking that's not in your place, but I may have it in mine.
FURTHER INFORMATION
On certain dates, you may find a gardener mowing the lawn. If that is a problem to you, please let me know at the time of booking and we can arrange for the gardener to come on a different date.
Most main supermarkets deliver to the door. There is a corner-shop and barber five minutes walk away.
Unfortunately, the accommodation is not suitable for pets, I have a few regular customers who suffer allergic reactions.
Important safety note: There is easy access to both patios but alone one side of each is a larger step down to be aware of. There are also lots of small toys in the games room and you are fully responsible for your child’s safety.
THE VILLAGE
There are two excellent local pubs in the village, which both serve very good food. They are within walking distance. The village shop is also only a five minute walk.
There is a good playground and a basketball hoop within five minutes walk. We have a basketball which you can borrow. Next to the playground, there is a football pitch if you fancy a kick-about! We also have footballs! We have an outside table tenis table which we will put out for you on request.
In the unlikely event that you need to visit a doctors' practice, the excellent Buxted Surgery is situated nearby.
The local train station, Buxted Station, is within walking distance and has a regular direct service to London (London Bridge), taking around one hour. It also can take you to the local town of Uckfield, which is an 8 minute journey.
There is a bus stop on the main road, 5 mins walk.
Buxted is around 50 minutes by car from London Gatwick airport and around 90 minutes from London Heathrow.
EAST SUSSEX, KENT AND BEYOND
It is impossible to mention all of the beautiful places to visit in East Sussex, but here are just a few examples:
The famous Bluebell Railway is one of the finest preserved steam railways in the country.
Wilderness Wood and cafe is located in the next village.
The many National Trust properties in the area include Sheffield Park, Wakehurst Place and Batemans, Rudyard Kipling's former home.
Drusillas Park is great fun for the children!
The very different coastal resorts of Eastbourne and Brighton are both around 40 minutes away by car. Eastbourne is sedate and neat; Brighton is vibrant and energetic!
Tunbridge Wells and its traditional shopping area, The Pantiles, is around 30 minutes' drive.
The old county town of Lewes and its castle are within 20 minutes drive. Glyndebourne, home of the famous opera house, is a similar distance away.
Buxted Park Hotel, a popular venue for weddings, is a five minute drive away, 20 mins on foot.
The Buxted Inn and The White Hart, two pubs which are very well-reviewed for their food, are both within walking distance.
For those who like country walks, The South Downs and Ashdown Forest are easily accessible by car. If you prefer not to drive at all, it is easy to walk from the property to join The Vanguard Way, which passes through the village and is a popular country walk and route to Ashdown Forest.
Piltdown Golf Club, Crowbough Golf Club and East Sussex National Golf Club are all within six miles.
This vacation home is located in Uckfield. Tinkers Park and Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Piltdown Golf Club and East Sussex National Golf Club. Traveling with kids? Consider National Cat Adoption Centre - Visitors Centre and Groombridge Railway Station.
