The Space:
Wildacre is a cosy, yet spacious cottage in the leafy outskirts of Bristol. Its immediate area feels like you’re nestled away in the rolling countryside, but so much of the city is at your fingertips. Drive to the historic Clifton Village in just 10 minutes, where you’ll cross Brunel’s iconic Suspension Bridge, a high-street of eclectic boutique shops and fantastic dining options.
The cottage is located on beautiful grounds, with a large grassy lawn and only greenery around. On warm nights, enjoy a glass of wine in the swinging chair with a good book in hand. In the evenings, take alfresco meals as the sun sets.
Inside, the cottage is made for hunkering down and relaxing. Characterful features are found in every room: from wooden beams, to slate floors, open fireplaces and exposed stone walls. The large kitchen-dining room is the perfect spot to rustle up home cooked meals - you’ll find everything you need and more. Then it’s over to the living room for board games or chatting next to the fire. Spanning all on one level, the bedrooms are found at the far end of the cottage. A master boasts a super-king bed, whilst the further rooms have a king and two singles. All have been kitted out with tasteful fittings and furnishings. From unique antique furniture to store all your clothes in, as well as pretty artwork and textiles. A family bathroom is shared by all with a bath and shower unit.
Well behaved dogs are welcome with a fee of £20/dog (max 2) - we may accept more on special request depending on the breed. It is also on the condition they are kept off sofas and beds, cleaned up after and not left in the property unattended.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the whole cottage.
The Neighborhood:
Wild Acre is the perfect place if you’re looking for a city break to Bristol with some added countryside charm. You’re just a stone's throw from the centre, but instead of sirens and street noise there’s nature and greenery from every window. Blissful.
The cottage is located close to Leigh Woods, a wilderness of tranquility near the city and set against Brunel's famous suspension bridge. Just across the road you’ll also find the wonderful Ashton Court Estate, which spans 850 acres. Whether you’re walking, cycling or picnicking - there really is something for everyone. Take to the bike routes through the forest, watch the resident deer, enjoy lunch in the cafe or even book onto a hot air balloon ride! It’s a truly wonderful place to get in touch with nature.
Bristol is a vibrant city with so much to offer. From Clifton's iconic suspension bridge to Brunel's groundbreaking SS Great Britain, via steam boats and trains, it awash with the past. A bustling harbourside is lined with an array of cafes, restaurants, shops and galleries. Wapping Wharf, Arnolfini, King Street to name a few great spots.
Wander up to Clifton, one of the South West’s most beautiful villages, and take in the stunning Georgian architecture. It’s a great spot to spend the day, wandering around the independent shops and stopping in for coffee. Or head down to the arty Gloucester Road, Montpelier and Stokes Croft for Banksy lined walls, pubs blaring live music and delicious eateries. Down south, there’s Bedminster, an up and coming area with a great little high street full of shops and restaurants.
Theater lover? Head to the Bristol Hippodrome for some big names. Or, try smaller spots like The Old Vic and Tobacco Factory for smaller shows.
All over Bristol you'll find eateries dishing up food that's local, ethical and creatively prepared. You can enjoy everything from romantic, French-themed dining to cosy pubs, street food and cheap gourmet pies. Find all our local tips and tricks in the guest guide, available upon booking.
Getting Around:
Bristol is easy to reach via public transport with regular links to London Paddington, the Midlands and South West. Bristol Temple Meads train station is around a 17 minute drive and there are multiple taxis available outside to jump in. Or, Uber if you need to catch a lift from the cottage. Additionally, there are some bus routes in the area that run directly into the city centre and surrounding areas.
Other Things to Note:
‘Parker’ the free-range peacock likes to wander the garden and guests may hear him announcing his presence from time to time in the summer…
