For walkers, there are beautiful coastal paths along the coastline and over to Pendennis Castle. This historical landmark has 360° views of Falmouth harbour and the sea. The high street is a 5 minute walk away, and has plenty of vibrant cafes, shops, restaurants and pubs. The National Maritime museum is also very close by and a perfect rainy day activity.

The ferry to the traditional fishing village of St Mawes and other areas on the Roseland peninsula can be accessed from the town quay, around 5-10 minutes walk away. This is another wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Falmouth. There are also fishing trips available which allow you to keep your catch - most often delicious fresh Mackerel!

Falmouth is also well positioned for exploring some of Cornwall's most popular attractions. The beautiful Lizard coastline can be reached in 30-40 minutes drive time, a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just 20 minutes drive north are the National Trust run Trelissick Gardens. There are also lots of lovely coastal walks traversing up the estuary from here. Further afield, there is Lands End which - about an hours drive - or popular surfing beaches on the North Coast which can be reached in 30- 40 minutes.

Given the remote nature of Cornwall, a car is recommended for getting the most out of your stay here. That said, Falmouth has very good transport links with trains running from London Paddington all the way into the town centre. Falmouth Town station is a 1 minute walk from the house, and from here you can hop on for one stop to the end of the line at Falmouth docks or to Penryn in the other direction - a quaint fishing village.
